Sure, being a web professional is an easy one to connect with people on, since it's something that virtually affects every form of of business and many aspects of personal life.

Look for the problem that your service or product solves, it may be easier to relate to people that way. After all people do seem to talk more about problems than ventures. The hope being, that as you talk about what problem your business solves someone might say "Hey, I know this guy who has that problem".
